Metropolitan-leading Flyers host Hurricanes in Saturday night showdown

(Heather Barry Images, LLC)

In a battle of two of the top three teams in the Metropolitan Division, the Philadelphia Flyers host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at Wells Fargo Center before preparing to head out on a three-game road trip.

The Flyers enter the contest with an improbable 5-2-0 record and are atop the Metropolitan Division for the time being, while the Hurricanes sit in third with a 4-2-1 record.

Philadelphia responded from a dreadful 3-0 showing against the San Jose Sharks last Sunday with a resilient 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday. Carter Hart was the star of the show in the victory, making a career-high 48 saves while Tony DeAngelo, Scott Laughton, Zack MacEwen, and Joel Farabee scored for the Flyers.

Carolina is looking to rebound after a 6-2 blowout loss at home against the New York Islanders last night. Frederik Andersen only made 26 saves for the Hurricanes as Martin Nečas and Brent Burns got on the scoresheet at PNC Arena.
