After a relatively healthy start to the 2025-26 regular season, the Philadelphia Flyers are a little banged up at the moment with 3 key injuries to focus in on for the next week or so.

Defenseman Jamie Drysdale was placed on the injured reserve earlier today after his collision with Ross Johnston during their contest against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. He was forced out of the game against his former club and ended up missing last night’s contest against Toronto before his placement on IR today.

First reported by Kevin Kurz of The Athletic, the Flyers recalled defenseman Adam Ginning to take his spot on the active roster. Ginning was placed on waivers earlier in the season for the purpose of reassignment and has been with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms awaiting his next opportunity, which has seemingly arrived.

Additionally, Kurz mentions that both Drysdale and Bobby Brink – who also exited Tuesday’s game with an injury – are expected to miss a few games with a return date for the latter potentially arriving on the 14th of January against Buffalo. That effectively rules him out for their next two games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

A third injury to keep an eye out for involves Travis Konecny, who exited last night’s game with an injury before the start of the third period. Konecny had scored the Flyers’ only goal of the night in the second period, but it was mentioned by Bill Meltzer that he could have been dealing with something pregame after a collision with a referee.

Kurz mentions that Konecny’s injury isn’t expected to be serious but that he will be a game-time decision for Saturday’s game against the Lightning. Should he be forced to miss out, Nicolas Deslauriers could slot back into the lineup unless the Flyers make a call-up from the minors.

That could mean that the Flyers would roll out with a forward group incorporating Deslauriers, Rodrigo Ābols, Carl Grundström, and Garnet Hathaway against the high-flying Tampa Bay Lightning that have won 6 of their last 9 meetings against Philadelphia.
