Flyers Sign Veteran Forward Noel Acciari

After extending forward Tyson Foerster and goaltender Dan Vladař to long-term deals, the Philadelphia Flyers made their first signing of the 2026-27 season with the acquisition of veteran centre Noel Acciari.

The Flyers reportedly had interest in a lot of bottom-6 forwards like Colton Sissons, Ross Johnston, and Jeffrey Viel before they waited things out and signed Acciari to a 2-year deal, worth $2.8 million per season.

Acciari is coming off his best offensive season since 2019-20 after scoring 13 goals and 25 points in 67 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He spent the last 3 years in Pittsburgh, having scored 22 goals and 44 points in 201 games to go along with 51 PIM, 369 hits, 247 blocked shots, and 13:32 ATOI.

Prior to Pittsburgh, Acciari spent 2022-23 split between St. Louis and Toronto, 3 years in Florida – where he tallied a career-high 20 goals and 27 points in 2019-20 – and 4 years in Boston, where he started his career.

The now-34-year-old will provide the Flyers with stability in the bottom-6, primarily down the middle, where he won 52% of his draws last year. He has a career 51.4% faceoff success rate, including 53.4% over the last 3 years with the Penguins.

His physicality and penalty killing with also be a boon for the Flyers as he has collected 1,378 hits and 596 blocked shots over his 11 year career. Acciari also played 487.4 minutes shorthanded over the last 3 years, which included 189.1 minutes in 2024-25 and 173 minutes this past season.

The Rhode Island native will likely replace Luke Glendening in the everyday lineup with the latter hitting unrestricted free agency.
