Report: Flyers Re-Sign Carl Grundström to One-Year Deal

On the eve of free agency, the Philadelphia Flyers have reportedly re-signed veteran forward Carl Grundström to a one-year contract worth $1 million, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

With the Flyers trading Garnet Hathaway to the Florida Panthers last week, a roster spot opened up for Grundström, who was just one of a handful pending unrestricted free agents that needed a contract.

Grundström was acquired by the Flyers through a trade with the San Jose Sharks in October. The deal included Artem Guryev coming over to Philadelphia as well, in exchange for Ryan Ellis and a conditional 6th round pick in 2026.

The Swedish forward scored 9 goals and 13 points in 47 games, was +7, had 19 PIM, and 139 hits while averaging 11:51 TOI. He was also named to Sweden’s IIHF World Championship roster at the end of the season.

He started off his Flyers tenure with a bang, having scored 7 goals and 8 points in his first 11 games, including a game-winning tally. The offense dried up to the tune of 2 goals and 5 points in his last 34 games, but he still helped out the team with physicality and shorthanded play.

The move gives the Flyers some depth for their bottom-6 heading into the 2026-27 season as the 8-year veteran will look to solidify an every day spot. There were rumours the Flyers were looking to extend Luke Glendening, so it remains to be seen if that’s still on the table with the signing of Grundström.
