Flyers select Brek Liske in second round of 2026 NHL Draft

The Philadelphia Flyers’ first selection of Day 2 of the 2026 NHL Draft, the 53rd overall pick, saw them take defenseman Brek Liske.

Liske, who hails from Beausejour, Manitoba, stands at 6’2” and 190 pounds and plays for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. The 18-year-old grew up as a Flyers fan, which makes the pick a bit more special.

Liske at his highest was rated #45 by EliteProspects, #48 by DobberProspects, and #54 by TSN’s Craig Button in the draft, among others. He has spent the last three seasons with the Silvertips. In his draft year, Liske recorded 7 goals, 17 assists, and was +36 in 52 regular season games. Liske then helped lead Everett to their third Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions with 17 points in 18 playoff games, which tied him for fourth in WHL playoff scoring. The Silvertips would later finish runners-up for the Memorial Cup to the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers. Liske went scoreless in five Memorial Cup contests.

The Flyers made it known they were looking to add defensemen in this draft after selecting Maksim Sokolovskii 27th overall in the first round on Friday. Adding a sizable, right-handed, two-way defender like Liske provides a solid boost to their prospect pool.
