The Philadelphia Flyers (9-6-3) return home after four days of rest to face off against the St. Louis Blues. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7pm/ET.
The Flyers split their short set of two games away last week, playing back-to-back nights against the Blues and the Dallas Stars. The Flyers defeated the Blues 6-5 (SO) in exciting fashion. After overcoming several two-goal deficits, the Flyers forced overtime and found victory in the shootout. This game featured major performances by the line made up of Owen Tippett, Christian Dvorak, and Trevor Zegras. This group would go on to create all five of Philadelphia’s goals. Unfortunately, they were unable to find the win against Dallas the next night and lost that game 5-1. The Flyers’ woes continue in the ladder end of back-to-backs. Through their last two seasons, the Flyers have accumulated a 1-12-2 record for the second game of back-to-backs.
Now, the Flyers will face the Blues for the second time in the last six days. While the first matchup was full of excitement and ended in victory, the slow starts remain a concern. With Flyers having the last four days off, Rick Tocchet sees no excuses for a slow start to tonight’s game.
“This is maturity, right? This is where you’re looking for you know, you’re not going to be perfect for 82 games, but there’s learning lessons. We’ve talked about starting on time. We’ve talked about changing my meetings a little bit, maybe more business-like meetings now, maybe. Sometimes you got to back off. So there’s a lot of things I got to help out, too. It falls on me but you know, we’ve had four days here off. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t start on time tomorrow. So, hopefully we learn and we mature from these last couple of games where we didn’t start on time ” – Rick Tocchet; 11/19/2025

Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are 1-1-1 through their last three games played. They lost to the Edmonton Oilers at home in overtime with a 2-1 final. The Flyers nearly won it with less than 30 seconds in the period, but was turned back after the league caught Tippett offsides. Their next game was against their opponents tonight, where they fell behind early but were able to force overtime after the heroics of the Tippett-Dvorak-Zegras line. The next night, they mightily struggled against a presumed contender in the Stars. In two of their last three games played, they have only scored 1 goal. Hopefully the Flyers can bring their offensive game that we saw in St. Louis last week.
Dan Vladař will play tonight. Vladař through his first six games (4-2-0) for Philadelphia was nothing short of spectacular. Between October 7th – October 31st, he ranked 3rd in the league via SV% (.939), and 4th in the league in GAA (1.67). Since the start of November, his numbers have begun to drop. Between November 1st and November 18th, he owned a 2-2-1 record. In this span, he has ranked 57th in SV% (.869) and 54th in GAA (3.35). This has brought his overall numbers down through 11 games (6-4-1) as his SV% rests at .909 and his GAA at 2.42.
It’s important to acknowledge his career numbers as well. In his 111 games played in the NHL, Vladař has a .896 SV% and a 2.94 GAA. It will be very interesting to see how he does over the next two months. It seems these splits are a tale of two stories, and hopefully the truth lies in the middle. Ideally, he shows a bit closer to the performances we experienced through his first six games.
Team Stats
On offense, the Blues possess a slight edge. The Blues rank 26th (2.75), compared to the Flyers, who are 28th (2.61) in that category. On the power play, the Blues have been a top 10 team in the league. They currently rank 8th (23.5%) compared to the Flyers who, while not terrible, are 18th (19.6%).
On defense, the Flyers possess a significant edge to their opponents. For starters, Philadelphia ranks 10th (2.83) in goals against per game. The Blues are dead last in the league, allowing 3.80 goals against per game. Additionally, the Flyers’ penalty kill is superior, sitting at 3rd (87.5%) league-wide. The Blues have struggled and rank 27th (72.5%) on the penalty kill.
While the Blues have the edge on offense, they will have to go up against one of the top teams in goals against and a high end penalty kill. The Flyers, who have certainty struggled at scoring in 5v5, face an opponent who has been bad in this area to start the year. Additionally, a middle of the pack power play should have enough fire power against the worst penalty kill in the league.
As long as the Flyers show up to start the game, and clean up their 5v5 game, this should be a game they can win. In their matchup last week, all five goals by the Blues came at 5v5. Slow them down there, and the Flyers just might earn their 5th win in regulation through 19 games.
