Tonight, the Philadelphia Flyers will visit the New York Islanders at the UBS Arena for a 7pm puck drop, beginning the 2025 Flyers Preseason.

In all, this marks the fourth day of the 2025 Flyers Training Camp. The first day featured more systems compared to the last few training camps. Rick Tocchet did implement more skating on the second day of training camp, but not nearly as much as the dreaded John Tortorella bag skates synonymous with the last few training camps. Yesterday, Alexis Gendron and Bobby Brink tallied goals for Team Black. Trevor Zegras and Jack Nesbitt scored for Team Orange, but Brink secured a shootout win for Team Black, beating Dan Vladař.

Rasmus Ristolainen (tricep), Oliver Bonk (upper-body), and Karsen Dorwart (upper-body) aren’t cleared. Tyson Foerster (bicep) aims to return for the start of the 2025-2026 NHL season. Joey Costanzo (OHL; Windsor Spitfires), Austin Moline (USHL; Madison Capitals), and Nathan Quinn (QMJHL; Québec Remparts) were assigned to their junior teams.

Philadelphia Flyers

This morning, the Flyers and the NHL are saddened by the passing of Bernie Parent. He’s the only goaltender to secure a Stanley Cup for Philadelphia in NHL history, winning back-to-back in 1974 and 1975. Tocchet provided some emotional words to an alumnus who helped him when he was coming up in the NHL during his playing career:

“I’ve been gone for so long, and I’ve kind of lost touch with him [Bernie Parent] over the years. One of the guys, when I was an eighteen or nineteen-year-old, coming in here; one of the nicest guys that helped my career. So, tough one. I wish I saw him, you know. Great guy; as a young kid, you’re stressed, you’re trying to make the team, and when he would come in, he would just break the room up. He really helped me out when it came to that.” – Rick Tocchet; 9/21/2025

After giving heartfelt comments about Parent, Tocchet did state that Alexei Kolosov would start tonight against the Islanders. “I’ve talked to Dilly [Kim Dillabaugh] about this, and we’re talking about playing two periods, and then handing off,” noting Carson Bjarnason is likely playing the third period.
