The Philadelphia Flyers continued their wave of signing entry-level contracts with forward Alex Čiernik putting pen to paper earlier Monday, per GM Daniel Brière.

The 21-year-old signed a three-year entry level contract that will begin in the 2026-27 season.
Čiernik was drafted in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft and has now become the 6th member of Brière’s first draft class to sign an entry-level deal, which includes Matvei Michkov, Oliver Bonk, Carson Bjarnason, Denver Barkey, and most recently Cole Knuble.
He has spent the majority of his junior career in Sweden, but has seen time in Finland and the United States when had a 3-game stint with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season on loan.
Čiernik spent the first 3 years of his career with Sodertalje SK, in both the J20 Nationell and the HockeyAllsvenskan, before moving onto Vasterviks IK in 2023-24. His best season came in 2024-25 with Nybro Vikings IF, where he notched 11 goals and 23 points in 46 games in the HockeyAllsvenskan.
This season he split time between Nybro Vikings and the Pelicans of the SM-liiga in Finland, where he combined 3 goals and 8 points in 40 games.
Born in Wolfsburg, Germany, Čiernik is of Slovakian descent, and had represented Slovakia at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2023 and 2024, where he collected 2 goals and 4 points in 7 games.
Alex will look to follow in the footsteps of his father, Ivan, who had some NHL experience after he was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 1996. He played in 89 regular season games and 2 postseason contests with the Senators and the Washington Capitals, tallying 12 goals and 26 points.
Ivan then moved to Germany, where he resumed his playing career during the 2004-05 lockout, before finishing things up in 2017-18. Within those years, he also had short stints in the KHL and HockeyAllsvenskan.
