Philadelphia Flyers prospect and Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Samu Tuomaala has been named as the Phantoms’ representative for the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic in San Jose, California.

This is Tuomaala’s first AHL All-Star appearance in his first full AHL season.
“That’s really nice,” said Tuomaala. “Nice thing for me to get selected from our team for All-Star Weekend. I’m excited to go.”
The second-round pick of the Flyers in the 2021 NHL Draft has racked up 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 33 games with Lehigh Valley this season. Tuomaala leads all Phantoms rookies in those categories and is second on the team overall in those categories as well as Cooper Marody leads in assists (20) and points (29) while Olle Lycksell leads in goals (12). Tuomaala is also tied for 5th in scoring for all AHL rookies with Laval forward Joshua Roy.
Tuomaala originally played for the Phantoms in just two games in 2021-22, but went back to his native Finland in search of more ice time. After spending two seasons between Liiga and Mestis, the top two Finnish men’s pro leagues, he came back to North America and has been nothing short of spectacular with the Phantoms.

Tuomaala is the first Phantoms rookie to make the All-Star Classic since Ronnie Attard last season and this is the third consecutive All-Star Classic that a Phantoms rookie will attend (Morgan Frost, 2020).
AHL All-Star Weekend will take place on Sunday, February 4th and Monday, February 5th at Tech CU Arena in San Jose, the home of the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.
