The Philadelphia Flyers (6-3-1) host the Toronto Maple Leafs (5-5-1) at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7pm/ET.
The Flyers are riding a three-game winning streak and have gone 4-1-0 in their last five, showing some real momentum. The Maple Leafs are 2-3-0 in their last five, with both of those wins coming in home games.
The Flyers continue to rely on their defensive structure, allowing just 2.40 goals against per game compared to Toronto’s 3.82, while also having a stronger penalty kill (89.2%). Offensively, the Leafs generate more chances, averaging 3.45 goals on nearly 30 shots per game, but their defense has struggled to keep pucks out. The Flyers’ power play (20%) has quietly been more efficient than Toronto’s 13.8%, giving them a potential edge if the game turns special-teams heavy.

Philadelphia Flyers
Captain Sean Couturier is listed as a game-time decision after leaving the last game in the first period due to an upper-body injury, absorbing the impact from a Noah Juulsen shot.
Due to the uncertainty of Couturier, the Flyers reassigned Emil Andrae to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and recalled Jacob Gaucher. Andrae has already been up-and-down twice this season, but will get more consistent playing time in Lehigh Valley as the Flyers figure out the lineup formula. Gaucher has been solid for the Phantoms early this season, providing responsible two-way play and depth down the middle.
If Couturier is unavailable tonight, Zegras is expected to center the first line. This move gives Zegras additional ice time and another chance to extend his home-point streak. He has recorded at least one point in all seven home games at Xfinity Mobile Arena so far. In Thursday’s win over Nashville, Zegras led the offence with two goals (one even strength and one on the power play) and added an assist, continuing to be a key of the offense.
Dan Vladař will get the start in goal again tonight after a great performance on Thursday, where he only allowed one goal on 33 shots in the win over Nashville. He has been rock-solid to start the season, with a 1.67 GAA and a .939 save percentage, while remaining perfect at home with a 4-0-0 record.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Former Flyers alternate captain Scott Laughton has yet to make his season debut after suffering a lower-body injury during the preseason. Leafs head coach Craig Berube, who happens to be a former Flyers player and head coach himself, believes it is doubtful that Laughton will draw into the lineup tonight, though he has not ruled it out completely.
Anthony Stolarz, a Flyers draft pick from 2012, will be the netminder for the Leafs tonight. In the middle of his second season as a starting goaltender, he currently has a 3-4-1 record with a 3.27 GAA and .886 SV% this season. It will be interesting to see his performance in comparison to Vladař’s.
The Leafs’ lineup is suffering with the absence of William Nylander due to a lower-body injury. This will be his third absence in the past 4 games for the Leafs. Despite these misses, he is still the point-leading man on the Leafs with 15 points (3G, 12A).
