Lehigh Valley Phantoms sponsoring NASCAR Xfinity Series car at Pocono Raceway this weekend

(Sam Hunt Racing)

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, will be on a different playing surface this weekend.

The team will be sponsoring Corey Heim’s #24 Toyota Supra for Sam Hunt Racing at this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event, the Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 at Pocono Raceway.

This will be the fourth time the Phantoms have sponsored NASCAR race cars. The team was on the hood of Corey LaJoie’s #23 Toyota Camry Cup Series ride for now-defunct BK Racing in 2017, Timmy Hill’s #66 Toyota Camry in the Cup Series for Motorsports Business Management and Josh Reaume’s #33 Chevrolet Silverado in the Truck Series for Reaume Brothers Racing in 2018, and Reed Sorenson’s #27 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Cup Series car for Premium Motorsports and Reaume’s #33 Chevy in the Truck Series again in 2019.

If you want to catch the #24 Phantoms Toyota in action this weekend, Xfinity Series practice begins on Friday at 3:35pm ET. Heim will then qualify the car on Friday at 4:05pm ET, with the race slated to begin at 5:30pm ET on Saturday evening.

This will be Heim’s third career Xfinity Series start after making two previous appearances this season for Sam Hunt Racing while also driving a full Craftsman Truck Series schedule for TRICON Garage. Heim has won two Truck Series races this season and placed an Xfinity Series-personal best 10th at Darlington Raceway on May 13th.
