The Flyers add another one of Kevin Hayes’ friends

(@GoldenKnights)

Philadelphia Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher has continued his quest to add all of Kevin Hayes’ friends.

It was announced earlier today that the Flyers had claimed Vegas Golden Knights forward Patrick Brown on waivers.

Brown (29) has only had a cup of coffee in the NHL, but is a longtime AHL veteran. The center/winger captained the Charlotte Checkers (Carolina) to a Calder Cup title during the 2018-2019 season.

The Boston College alum only played four regular season games (0 PTS) with Vegas last year, but scored two goals in the playoffs (12 GP). Brown had more playoff appearances (2 GP, 1 G) than regular season games (1 GP, 1 G) with the Golden Knights in 2019-2020 as well.

Patrick Brown had 21 points (7 G, 14 A) in 60 games within the AHL (Chicago Wolves) during that 2019-2020 season.

Vegas Golden Knights fans seem disappointed on losing Brown for what it’s worth, he was the AHL captain and contributed in the playoffs last year as a solid depth forward.

In total, Brown has played 33 NHL games (2 G, 1 A) with Carolina and Vegas.

The waiver claim signifies Patrick Brown’s spot on the Flyers’ roster heading into the 2021-2022 season.

Patrick Brown and Kevin Hayes spent all four of their years at Boston College together (2010-2014). Chuck Fletcher has already added best friend Keith Yandle and fellow former Rangers player Derick Brassard in a busy offseason. Hayes is also very close with Cam Atkinson, who lit up BC during 2010-2011 with 52 points (31 G, 21 A) in 39 games.

Brown’s uncle is New York Giants co-owner John Mara and he’s the grandson of one of the most influential figures in NFL history, former Giants co-owner Wellington Mara.
