The Philadelphia Flyers (25-20-10) snapped their four-game losing streak in a big way on Tuesday night, defeating Metropolitan Division rival Washington Capitals (28-23-7) by a 4–2 final at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The win marked a much-needed bounce-back performance for Philadelphia and came on a milestone night for Travis Konecny, who skated in his 700th career NHL game.
First Period
The Flyers’ penalty kill was tested early after Nic Deslauriers was sent to the box for tripping just 2:55 into the game. While not an ideal start, it proved to be Philadelphia’s only penalty of the night. Dan Vladař stood tall during the penalty kill, with Noah Cates helping clear the zone to keep the game scoreless.
At 5:56, the Flyers score first. Owen Tippett opened the scoring off a well-executed sequence that began with Matvei Michkov circling behind the net before dishing the puck to Travis Sanheim at the point. Sanheim found Tippett in front, who finished with a backhand to beat Clay Stevenson and give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.

Despite Washington controlling much of the play in the opening frame, Vladař was sharp from the start, allowing the Flyers to carry the one-goal advantage into the first intermission.
Second Period
Early in the second, Alex Ovechkin was called for slashing at 2:02, but the Flyers’ power play struggled to generate momentum, with Bobby Brink recording the lone shot on goal.
Philadelphia capitalized shortly after at even strength. At 4:45, Carl Grundström, playing his first game after being scratched for two, doubled the Flyers’ lead. Grundström attempted to pass toward Sean Couturier in front, but the puck deflected off Jakob Chychrun’s skate and into the net. Nic Deslauriers picked up his first assist of the season, with Rasmus Ristolainen earning the secondary assist.

The Flyers’ power play gets another chance when Chychrun was whistled for holding at 6:59. Trevor Zegras rang a shot off the post on the ensuing power play, but it was Washington that found the net. At 8:12, Aliaksei Protas scored a shorthanded goal on a 2-on-1 rush, with Anthony Beauvillier recording the assist.

The remainder of the period saw chances traded at both ends, with neither team able to add to the score as Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead into the third.
Third Period
Washington tied the game early in the final frame. At 2:40, Beauvillier buried a rebound after a point shot from Trevor van Riemsdyk deflected off Justin Sourdif, making it a 2-2 game.

The Flyers responded late, not giving up after losing their 2-0 lead. With Sourdif sent to the box for holding at 14:13, Philadelphia wasted little time on the power play. Just 24 seconds later, Jamie Drysdale snapped a shot from the point through traffic and past Stevenson to restore the Flyers’ lead. The goal, Drysdale’s first in 20 games, was assisted by Zegras and Konecny.
