(Heather Cattai/Heather Barry Images, LLC)

After securing an important two points in a regulation win against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers (30-23-11) head to St. Paul to take on the Minnesota Wild (38-16-11) at Grand Casino Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8pm/ET, though it may be slightly delayed as the Wild will celebrate members of Team USA’s Gold Medalists from the women’s hockey team.

The Flyers have a 3-2-0 record in their last five games, averaging 2.2 goals per game while allowing 3.0. The Wild are 3-1-1 over their last five games, allowing just 1.2 goals per game while scoring 3.4.

Looking at the full season, the Wild hold the advantage offensively with 3.32 goals per game compared to the Flyers’ 2.81. Minnesota has also been slightly stronger defensively, allowing 2.79 goals against per game, while Philadelphia has allowed 3.09.

Minnesota has taken just 479 penalty minutes this season, the fourth-fewest in the NHL, while Philadelphia’s 642 rank seventh-most in the league. The Wild’s penalty kill sits tied for 19th at 78.6%, with the Flyers close behind in 21st at 78.2%.

The biggest gap comes on the power play. Minnesota currently has the fourth-best power play in the NHL at 25.2%, while Philadelphia sits in last place at 15.8%.

Philadelphia Flyers

Trevor Zegras scored in Wednesday’s win, marking his first goal of March and just his second in the eight games since the Olympic break.

Meanwhile, Cates has been one of Philadelphia’s most productive players since the break. With two goals and six assists over the last eight games, he has been operating at a point-per-game pace, including a two-assist performance against the Capitals.

Vladař is expected to start in goal. The netminder is 20-11-6 this season with a 2.52 goals-against average and .903 save percentage. Since returning from the Olympic break, Vladař is 3-3-0. He has also found success against Minnesota in his career, going 3-1-1 with a 2.40 goals-against average and .896 save percentage.

Minnesota Wild

At last week’s trade deadline, the Wild acquired Bobby Brink from the Flyers in a deal that sent David Jiříček to Philadelphia

Brink, a Minnetonka, MN native and Philadelphia’s second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, appeared in 201 games with the Flyers before the move. He scored Minnesota’s third goal in their recent 5-0 win over the Utah Mammoth, which was his third game with the Wild and first at home. Brink briefly exited that game after taking a hit from Logan Cooley but later returned. He is currently listed as a game-time decision for tonight.

Offensively, Minnesota is led by Kirill Kaprizov, who tops the team with 37 goals and 41 assists for 78 points. His 37 goals are tied for the second most in the NHL. Matt Boldy is close behind with 36 goals, tied for the fourth-most in the league alongside Connor McDavid.

Wallstedt is expected to start in net for Minnesota. He is 14-6-5 this season with a 2.81 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. He enters the game following back-to-back losses: a 5-2 defeat against Utah and a 3-2 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche. His overtime loss to Philadelphia in October remains his only career appearance against the Flyers.
