The Philadelphia Flyers (22-13-8) close out their brief two-game set against the Tampa Bay Lightning (27-13-3) on Monday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Puck drop is set for 7pm/ET as the Flyers look to respond and reset in front of the home crowd.
Tampa Bay enters the night with the league’s sixth-ranked penalty kill (83.1%), while the Flyers sit just outside the top ten at 11th (80.8%). On the power play, the Lightning rank 17th (19.7%), while Philadelphia continues to search for consistency, sitting 30th (15.6%). Tampa Bay’s aggressive style has also led to the third-most penalty minutes in the NHL (573 PIM), an area the Flyers should capitalize on again. Philadelphia went 1-for-2 on the power play in Saturday’s matchup and generated quality looks on the unsuccessful power play, an encouraging sign heading into the rematch.
The Lightning remain one of the league’s most dangerous teams, tied fo third in goals scored (152). The Flyers sit tied for 23rd with 127 goals, emphasizing the importance of finishing chances against a high-powered opponent.
Previous Matchup
The Flyers were competitive through much of the game, though the Lightning came out on top in Saturday’s match after pulling away in the second half of the game. The Lightning extended their winning streak to nine games behind a strong offensive showing, led by Nikita Kucherov (2G, 2A), Gage Goncalves (2G), and Brayden Point (3A). Eleven Tampa Bay skaters recorded at least one point.
Philadelphia received goals from Garnet Hathaway and Owen Tippett, with Tippett’s power-play goal standing out as a positive takeaway. Hathaway’s goal was complemented by a strong, physical performance, as he consistently brought energy to the lineup and even had a spirited fight against Declan Carlile. The Flyers will look to build on these moments rather than dwell on the final score.

Philadelphia Flyers
Travis Konecny is a game-time decision tonight. He missed Saturday’s game, but appeared ready to return during Sunday’s practice. However, he exited the practice early after taking a puck to the knee. He was present at the optional morning skate today, leaving his status to be determined closer to puck drop. Carl Grundström missed practice yesterday because he was sick, but was at morning skate today. He is also a game-time decision.
Bobby Brink will miss his third straight game but has returned to a regular jersey at practice and appears close to a return. Jamie Drysdale, who remains on IR, is unavailable until Wednesday. He has been skating with the Flyers and appears to be in good spirits.
Dan Vladař is expected to start in net for Philadelphia. He carries a 16-6-4 record with a 2.35 GAA and .910 save percentage and has allowed three goals orr fewer in each of his last five starts. Vladař is 2-2 in his career against Tampa Bay and will look to continue his recent strong play as he is 3-1-1 in his previous five games.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Tampa’s top line of Goncalves, Point, and Kucherov remains a focal point. Since Goncalves’ promotion to the line on December 27, the trio has combined for 29 even-strength points in seven games. Limiting their time and space will be a priority for Philadelphia.
Jonas Johansson is expected in net for the Lightning. The netminder owns a 9-6-1 record this season with a 2.83 GAA and a .894 save percentage. Like Vladař, he is also 3-1-1 in his last five appearances. He is 0-1-2 against the Flyers in his career with a 3.33 GAA and .900 save percentage.
