After starting the 2025-2026 NHL Regular Season on a two-game road trip, the Philadelphia Flyers (0-1-1) host the Florida Panthers (3-0-0) at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7pm/ET.
Rick Tocchet debuted as the head coach of the Flyers in Sunrise, Florida, against the Panthers. Philadelphia hung in tightly with the back-to-back NHL Stanley Cup champions, closely contesting in a regulation loss, 2-1. Brad Marchand scored the game-winning goal with 17:41 remaining in the third period.
Looking for their first win of the 2025-2026 NHL Regular Season, the Flyers hope it will come at the expense of the reigning, defending, and undefeated NHL Stanley Cup champions in the second of three meetings with the Panthers in the season series.

Emil Andrae is recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Philadelphia loaned Dennis Gilbert to the Phantoms. Andrae was a surprise cut near the end of the 2025 Flyers Training Camp, and it took two games for the Flyers to bring him back into the lineup.
“We’re looking for somebody to make a statement on defense. Obviously, we can’t have Sanny [Travis Sanheim] play thirty minutes a night. Seel’s [Nick Seeler] been really good, but now we need somebody to take a chunk. It’s not so much in camp; I thought his [Emil Andrae] decisions with the puck, giving the puck away a lot. There’s pockets where, ‘Man, this guy can play.’ He moves the puck well, skates, but I think his puck decisions throughout the camp were a little bit, you know, he was throwing pucks in the middle of the ice, little things like that. If he’s getting some reps, why not have him get a chance now? There’s as good a time than ever to get him in against a really good hockey team.” – Rick Tocchet; 10/13/2025
Egor Zamula comes out of the lineup. On October 8, 2025, in a report by Oleysa Usova, Zamula’s agent, Shumi Babayev, commented regarding the usage of his client:
“I’m looking forward to Egor being given the chance to blossom and play at his level, the way he’s capable of playing. He can’t fully realize his potential because he’s not given the opportunity; he’s forced into a box. We always look forward to that opportunity.” – Shumi Babayev; 10/8/2025
To date, this season, Zamula hasn’t been on the power play, and while averaging 15:49TOI, his puck control isn’t a strength (1TK;3GV). Andrae will step into his slot on defense, next to Noah Juulsen, on the third pair.
“I think he [Egor Zamula] gets the puck, and he’s starting at his options instead of there’s twenty feet of space. I wanted to get going. You don’t have to be the fastest player, but if you think faster, you look faster. That’s something he has to get better at.” – Rick Tocchet; 10/13/2025
Jett Luchanko remains in the lineup. He’ll center the fourth line, flanked by Nikita Grebenkin and Garnet Hathaway on the wings. When Philadelphia visited Florida to begin the 2025-2026 NHL Regular Season, Tocchet opted for a bigger lineup with Rodrigo Ābols centering Nicolas Deslauriers and Hathaway. Tonight, there’s an added emphasis on developing Luchanko and Grebenkin. Grebenkin recorded his first NHL point (1A) against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Dan Vladař will make his second start of the season. He started the 2025-2026 NHL Regular Season opener for the Flyers against the Panthers.
