Joel Farabee, Derick Brassard, Carter Hart return to lineup as Flyers host Capitals

The Philadelphia Flyers will be getting a few reinforcements back into their lineup today when they host the Washington Capitals in their third of four meetings on the season.

Forwards Joel Farabee and Derick Brassard and goaltender Carter Hart will all be back in the lineup after each of them missed time with different ailments.

Hart missed the last two games against Carolina and St. Louis with an eye infection, but he’s healthy now and will be in the crease today. Farabee hasn’t played since January 20th after suffering an upper-body injury, and Brassard will be playing for the first time since February 9th and for only the second time since January 6th after dealing with a nagging hip injury.

The Flyers enter today on a six-game slide, most recently after coughing up a tough effort to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday in the third period in a deflating 4-1 loss. Martin Jones was fantastic in goal and Oskar Lindblom scored the lone Philadelphia goal, but a sudden surge by the Blues in the final period sunk the Flyers, who have lost 19 of their last 21 games.

News and Notes:

– This is the third meeting of the season between Philadelphia and Washington. The Flyers won 2-1 back on November 6th at Capital One Arena, but the Capitals returned the favor on February 17th with a 5-3 victory at Wells Fargo Center.

– This is the 234th all-time matchup between the Flyers and Capitals, with the Flyers holding a 120-84-19-10 edge in the series.

– Carter Hart will appear in his 134th game as a Flyer today. With that, he will surpass Martin Biron for 13th all-time in games played by a goaltender in franchise history.

– Gerry Mayhew continues to light the lamp for Philadelphia, racking up 3 goals in his last 3 games, including his first multi-goal performance in the NHL the last time these two teams faced off on the 17th. Look for #20 in Orange and Black to be dangerous today.
