Flyers take second goalie, draft Marek Sklenička in fourth round of 2026 Draft

After taking Martin Psohlavec in the second round of the 2026 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers selected another goaltender in Marek Sklenička with the 120th overall pick in the fourth round.

After not taking a goaltender in the prior two drafts, the Flyers picked a pair of them this time around. The last time they selected multiple goaltenders was 2023, when Carson Bjarnason and Egor Zavragin joined the organization.

Sklenička, 17, spent last season with the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds after previously going through the ranks of BK Mláda Boleslav in his native Czechia. He posted a 20-12-6 record to accompany a .902 SV%, 3.21 GAA, and 3 shutouts in 42 games in his first season in North America. Sklenička also appeared in four postseason contests for the Thunderbirds, going 1-2-1 with a .913 SV% and 3.67 GAA as Seattle fell in the first round to the Penticton Vees.

Sklenička really shone bright at the U18 World Junior Championship. He racked up a .921 SV% and 1.91 GAA while going 2-1-0 in 3 appearances as Czechia eventually went on to win the bronze medal over Latvia.

At 6’4” and 181 pounds, Sklenička is a big goaltender but is very athletic and mobile for his size. He does a good job staying fluid in his crease and squares up to shots well. NHL Central Scouting ranked him as the sixth-best goaltender in North America entering the draft.
