Flyers seeking first home win over Rangers in 630 days

(Heather Barry Images, LLC)

The Philadelphia Flyers, fresh off a 2-1 victory over New Jersey on Thursday that was stolen from the jaws of defeat by Carter Hart’s 48 saves, will look to build on that performance tonight against the New York Rangers.

The Flyers, who have not won at home against the Rangers since March 27th, 2021, will look a bit different tonight than we’re accustomed to seeing. Kevin Hayes will be a healthy scratch after being benched in the third period in Thursday’s win, and Lukáš Sedlák was placed on unconditional waivers earlier today after wishing to go back to his native Czechia, citing personal reasons.

Tony DeAngelo will make his return to the lineup on defense after missing four games due to personal reasons, and Kieffer Bellows will return to the ice after not playing since November 29th. Justin Braun will draw out to make room for DeAngelo.

Carter Hart will start again tonight and he’ll have to be as sharp as he was on Thursday if the Flyers want a chance to win tonight. The Rangers come into tonight on a five-game winning streak and are climbing their way back up the Metropolitan Division standings after a sluggish start to their season.

Philadelphia hasn’t had much luck against the Rangers in the last few years, but tonight is a good opportunity to not only turn the tides at Wells Fargo Center, but it would be sweet revenge to even the season series after New York’s 1-0 overtime win at Madison Square Garden on November 1st.
