After trading away Bobby Brink, the Philadelphia Flyers made yet another move, this time involving several AHL players as they acquired forward Brett Harrison and defenseman Jackson Edward in exchange for forwards Alexis Gendron and Massimo Rizzo from the Boston Bruins.

While all eyes had been fixated on Rasmus Ristolainen and whether he’ll be moved or not, the Flyers were busy elsewhere, having first signed Garett Wilson to an NHL contract, before moving Brink and then making some adjustments to their AHL roster.
Harrison was a third round pick of the Bruins in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He spent his junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals and Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, where he accumulated a 82 goals and 167 points in 180 games across 3 seasons.
The 6’2, 200 pound centreman scored 27 goals and 61 points in 2021-22, before ending his junior career on a high note with 34 goals and 69 points in just 57 games. He has since spent the last 3 years with Providence, accruing 19 goals and 48 points in 139 games.
Edward was a 7th round draft pick of the Bruins in 2022, where he spent his junior years with the London Knights. He finished off his time with London as a champion in 2023-24 – alongside Denver Barkey and Oliver Bonk – with 7 goals and 30 points in 59 regular season games, before chopping in with 11 points in 15 playoff games.
He has since split his time with the Providence Bruins in the AHL and the Maine Mariners of the ECHL, where he’s scored 1 goal and 7 points in 40 games for the former and 1 goal and 9 points in 28 games for the latter.
As for Rizzo and Gendron, both forwards had enjoyed successful junior careers, but found it difficult to traverse the professional ranks for the Flyers.
Rizzo collected 126 points in just 107 games for the University of Denver between 2021 and 2024, before scoring 6 goals and 18 points in 46 games in his first year with the Phantoms. He spent this year playing for the Reading Royals of the ECHL, where he scored 6 goals and 22 points.
Gendron was a revelation of sorts after having been selected in the 7th round of the 2022 draft. He scored 30 goals and 46 points during his draft year before popping 55 goals and 81 points in 63 games the following year for Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Gatineau Olympiques.
He’s been a steady source of offense for the Phantoms with 35 goals and 57 points in 127 games, including 20 goals in 63 games last season. Now as members of the Bruins’ organization, look for both forwards to try to make their mark with their new club.
Harrison and Edward will be reporting to the Phantoms.
