The 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina have seen their men’s hockey tournament wrap up the preliminary stage and quarterfinals as we gear up for how the medal round will shape up.
Canada (Group A champion), Slovakia (Group B champion), and the United States (Group C champion) along with Finland clinched byes into the quarterfinal round, and all four of those teams advanced into the semifinals. Canada, Finland, and the U.S. needed overtime to move on while Slovakia made easy work of Germany.
Three members of the Philadelphia Flyers have played in this year’s Olympics, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents on the most prestigious international stage in the world while proudly representing their countries.
Let’s take a look at how they’ve fared so far.

Ristolainen appeared in all three of Finland’s preliminary games against Slovakia, Sweden, and Italy, averaging 19:23 of ice time per game. He picked up 2 assists while being +8 as well in the group stage.
Ristolainen’s best game came in Finland’s 11-0 rout of host team Italy, where he picked up both his assists and was +5 in 18:22 of game action.
In Finland’s quarterfinal win over Italy, Ristolainen saw 20:03 of ice time and was -2, but his country held on in overtime against Switzerland.
TRAVIS SANHEIM – CANADA

Sanheim was a healthy scratch for Canada’s opening 5-0 win against Czechia, but he played in their wins against Switzerland and France after an injury to fellow blueliner Josh Morrissey.
Sanheim averaged 14:35 of ice time per game and was +5 heading with zero points heading into the quarterfinals.
In Canada’s overtime thriller against Czechia, Sanheim registered one shot and played just 8:52 as their 7th defenseman as they won, 4-3.

Vladař mainly served as Lukáš Dostál’s backup but he did appear in Czechia’s 6-3 victory over France.
The Flyers’ starter picked up Czechia’s only win in the group stage, making 9 saves on 12 shots for a .750 SV% and 3.00 GAA in his lone start.
Dostál lost 3 of his 4 games as the Czech starter, including their quarterfinal overtime loss to Canada as Vladař backed him up again.
