Flyers face Devils in final Stadium Series preview

(Heather Barry Images, LLC)

Riding an eight-game point streak, the Philadelphia Flyers make a pit stop in Newark, New Jersey, for an evening matchup with the New Jersey Devils.

Philadelphia most recently defeated the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, 1-0, thanks to a 33-save shutout by Samuel Ersson. Cam York potted the lone Flyers goal for his fifth of the season.

The Flyers penalty kill has been on a streak over the past few weeks. They have allowed just three power play goals in their last 15 games, going 48 for 51 on the penalty kill since November 11th. Philadelphia’s seven shorthanded goals is second in the NHL in that category.

Aside from the eight-game point streak, the Orange and Black are also currently on a season-high five-game road point streak dating back to November 25th.

Forward Travis Konecny has been on a tear as the season nears its midway point. TK leads the team in goals with 16, leads with three shorthanded goals and a team-leading 25 points.

The last time these two division rivals faced off was at the start of the Flyers eight-game point streak way back on November 30th. The Flyers overcame a 3-1 deficit in the third period with two Tyson Foerster goals but ultimately fell in overtime on a Luke Hughes game-winning goal.

The 2019 first-overall pick was named NHL Third Star of the Week after potting seven points (3g-4a) and posted consecutive three point games. He leads all New Jersey skaters in 2023-24 with multi-point contests at 11.
