Before the 2024 NHL Buyouts and 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers announced their 2024 Development Camp and Training Camp dates.

From July 2nd-6th, the Flyers will hold their Development Camp. Then, on September 18th, Training Camp begins. Preparations for next season start at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, NJ.

Previously announced on June 17th, Philadelphia will compete in seven 2024 NHL Preseason contests. Four games feature three NHL Metropolitan Division opponents (Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, and New Jersey Devils), then the home-and-home scheduling with the Boston Bruins, and a rogue visit against the Montreal Canadiens.

2024 Flyers Development Camp

In 2023, 39 players were present and accounted for at the Flyers Development Camp.

The Flyers Development Camp allows camp invites, new draftees, and other prospects in the Flyers talent pool to work alongside coaches. It offers an early look at players with time on their side and room to grow.

Whoever Philadelphia selects in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft will have a spotlight on them during the Flyers Development Camp. Additionally, a few prospects from the 2023 NHL Entry Draft will be under the microscope. Some names include Denver Barkey, Oliver Bonk, and Carson Bjarnason.

2024 Flyers Training Camp

Like the Flyers Development Camp, the Flyers Training Camp straps the skates to the ice with John Tortorella. Get ready for the dreaded bag skate!

Sam Ersson, Bobby Brink, Noah Cates, Tyson Foerster, and Adam Ginning were all on the cusp of making the Flyers roster. Some did, taking on a substantial role as a defacto starting goaltender or developing into top-six forwards. Recently, Ginning earned a contract extension through 2025-2026. Cates did drop off from his 2022-2023 season totals but earned more votes toward the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy than before.

Some new faces hope to make the right impression at the Flyers Training Camp and during the 2024 NHL Preseason. The freshest face in Philadelphia is Matvei Michkov. He could have an opportunity to face off against a version of the Canadiens.

Will Michkov Appear At Camp?

Pending on the camp, yes.

Do not expect Michkov to appear at the Flyers Development Camp. According to Charlie O’Connor, he is not a likely attendee because he might not have a visa in time. Also, Michkov has to sign his entry-level contract with the Flyers.

However, Michkov could be in Philadelphia for the Flyers Training Camp. If so, he might put on a Flyers sweater when they visit Montreal, causing a stir for a preseason tilt.
