The Flyers entered training camp this year with a roster that was essentially locked in, however that was thrown for a loop with forward Denver Barkey being placed on the injured reserve to start the season.
The 21-year-old was injured early last week in a preseason game against the Washington Capitals, and while many were speculating – and hoping – that Cole Knuble would take his place, it is in fact the recently signed veteran Garrett Wilson who snuck onto the roster as the final placeholder.
Wilson signed a one-year, two-way contract on Sunday, solidifying his place on the team, at least to start the season, before heading back down the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Defenseman Helge Grans was also designated as injured non-roster.
The Flyers will start the season with 14 forwards. 7 defensemen, and 2 goalies.
