The Philadelphia Flyers (2-1-0) will resume their preseason schedule on home ice at the Wells Fargo Center. Visiting are the Boston Bruins (1-2-0).
The Bruins will oppose Philadelphia twice this preseason. The next matchup between tonight’s opponents will take place in Boston on Tuesday October 1 at 7:00pm ET.
After Matvei Michkov and Samuel Ersson stole the show in their 2-0 victory against the New York Islanders at Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers added some more NHL veterans and sent another round of prospects back down to their affiliated leagues.
While Jett Luchanko is certainly making a case for himself, the offensive production was limited in the game against the Islanders. Michkov, on the other had, was very much not lacking in the offensive department, scoring 2 points (1g,1a) in their last showdown with a slick pass that created an Erik Johnson goal (???), as well as scoring the empty-netter that sealed the game for good. This time around, he will be trying out the left wing, being centered by Sean Couturier and supported by Travis Konecny at right wing.
As for Luchanko, He will be centering the second line with Joel Farabee on his left wing, and Bobby Brink on the right wing. Farabee and Brink have stood out offensively since the start of training camp. It’ll be interesting to see how the three of these players play off of each other. If Luchanko really wants to make Daniel Brière and co. consider him for the NHL roster, he needs to score points. The biggest question mark with Luchanko is not if he is NHL-ready or not, he most certainly is. The question is whether or not he will be able to grow and produce offensively in the NHL.
