It’s time to call an audible. Tell your family that Easter dinner is at 3:30pm/ET at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. Pack up the car, and let your parents gab about the ‘good ol’ days in 1974 and 1975′ one more time. If all goes well on Easter Sunday, playoff hockey could rise again.
Okay, I’m finished with the Easter ad-libs.
The Philadelphia Flyers (38-26-12) are the closest they’ve been during the 2025-2026 NHL Regular Season to a postseason berth. Around the NHL, everything has fallen their way. When the Flyers couldn’t gain ground, the teams they’re pursuing also lost. Then, in the eleventh hour, they won on Long Island against the New York Islanders. In what would be a clutch moment for Philadelphia, a win versus the Boston Bruins (43-26-8) would put them in third place in the NHL Metropolitan Division.
This season, the Flyers and Bruins have split the season series. Boston won 6-3 when the puck dropped at 7pm/ET. However, this is a matinée and Philadelphia won, 3-1, when the puck dropped at 3pm/ET in February.
If you’re privileged to remember the last time the Flyers and Bruins faced off in a meaningful hockey game, that’ll mean you remember the high of a 4-3 comeback in the 2010 NHL Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, and the agony of a 4-0 sweep in the 2011 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Today isn’t postseason hockey, but Philadelphia needs to bring the heat as if it’s the Stanley Cup Finals.

Dan Vladař (25-13-7, 2.47GAA, 90.5%SV) is the projected starter. He stopped 21/22 (95.5%SV) shots on goal in the win against the Islanders. Boston has a top ten power play unit, contributing to their top ten placement for goals scored per game, while being an elite puck possession team. Vladař, at times, will have to put the team on his back when facing pressure from the likes of David Pastrňák, or even the stacked second line featuring Casey Mittelstadt, Pavel Zacha, and Viktor Arvidsson. Today would be the second start for Vladař against the Bruins.
Trevor Zegras (23G, 38A) is a forward to monitor, especially after the win on Long Island. He only skated for 11:03TOI, missing about six compared to his usual workload. In his last five games, Zegras tallied four points (1G, 3A). Fighting for a postseason berth, today will be a display of both mental and physical fortitude from Zegras, who is second to Travis Konecny (27G, 39A, +12) in the team’s total offense.
Rasmus Ristolainen (1G, 10A, +6) and Nick Seeler (2G, 6A, -2) must clog the shooting lanes. The Bruins, as mentioned, are packed with firepower. Defensively, the Flyers must limit the workload for Vladař, remaining well rooted in their structure while blocking shots.
