The Philadelphia Flyers (32-23-12) finish off their back-to-back set tonight in Los Angeles to face off against the Kings (28-24-15) in what has become a very crucial road trip for the Orange and Black. The road trip concludes on Saturday in San Jose.
The Flyers claimed an overtime victory last night against the Anaheim Ducks, which was their third win in their last four games, and it also extended their point streak to four games as well.
Every game has become crucial for the Flyers’ playoff push as they need every point possible to jump the myriad of teams ahead of them in the Eastern Conference standings. Despite sitting 16th overall in the league’s standings entering play tonight, the Flyers are still 6 back of the final East Wild Card spot and 7 back of the final spot in the Metropolitan Division, but have a game in hand on both teams in those positions.
Expect Samuel Ersson to get the start tonight as he looks to extend his winning streak to 3 games. He has only started in 2 games since January 29th, which were victories against the New York Rangers on February 26th and most recently against the Washington Capitals on March 11th.
As for the Kings, their playoff picture is a bit different as they are tied for the final West Wild Card spot with Seattle, but are on the outside looking in due to their tiebreaker. Despite sitting 22nd in the league, the Kings have a great opportunity to make the spring dance if they can get hot down the stretch.
Artemi Panarin has been a great addition as the Russian winger has 3 goals and 13 points in 11 games, and enters tonight riding a 3-game point streak with a goal and four assists to his name.
The Kings are 5-3-1 over their last 9 games and could be without Adrian Kempe as he continues to deal with a lower body injury that kept him out of the lineup on Monday night. He is currently tabbed as a game-time decision.
Two updates from today's @LAKings skate:
– Adrian Kempe will take pre-game warmups tonight, Kings will decide on his availability from there. Same as Monday in New York.
– Joel Armia progressed into a full-contact jersey today. Won't play tonight but could play Saturday.

Should Kempe not suit up, expect Mathieu Joseph to keep his spot on the top line. Kings interim head coach D.J. Smith mentioned yesterday that he did not want to ruin the chemistry of his other 3 lines to try and front-load his first line, should Kempe remain sidelined.
Darcy Kuemper is also expected to start for the fourth time over his team’s last five games. He stopped 21 of 22 shots against the Rangers on Monday, and made 19 saves on 21 shots the last time these two teams met in Philadelphia on January 31st – which was a 3-2 overtime win for Los Angeles.
