The Philadelphia Flyers’ 2026 preseason continues tonight in Boston as they take on the Bruins at TD Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm ET.
The Flyers wrapped up their preseason opener less than 24 hours ago when they faced the Washington Capitals at GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, losing 5-2. Jack Studnicka and Cole Knuble recorded Philadelphia’s goals while backup goalie Joseph Woll made the start, stopping 16 of 19 shots through 40 minutes.
The Bruins opened their preseason on Sunday with a 3-2 shootout win over the Capitals in Boston as both teams iced NHL-heavy lineups. Michael DiPietro made 30 saves and James Hagens scored the shootout winner for the home side against potential Vezina Trophy candidate Logan Thompson.
In tonight’s game, Dan Vladař is scheduled to start for the Flyers and will play the first two periods of the game. Phantoms starter Aleksei Kolosov is slated to play the third period of the contest. Oliver Bonk, Spencer Gill, David Jiříček, Hunter McDonald, Ty Murchison, and Nick Seeler will make up the defense. Alex Bump, Noah Cates, Jacob Gaucher, Carl Grundström, Cole Knuble, Jett Luchanko, and Owen Tippett are some of the more notable forwards in the lineup for the Flyers.
On the other side, Jeremy Swayman will start for Boston in another NHL-heavy lineup for the Bruins that will feature the likes of David Pastrňák, Morgan Geekie, Pavel Zacha, Hampus Lindholm, Casey Mittelstadt, and JJ Peterka, among others.

Despite the loss last night, Knuble shone bright and racked up a goal and assist. He was already incredibly impressive in the Rookie Series and has stood out positively in training camp. He will play again tonight and have another opportunity to keep impressing the Flyers’ brass.
Vladař will look for a simple tuneup to keep the momentum going after his stellar 2025-26 campaign in goal. He went 29-14-7 with a .906 SV% and 2.42 GAA in 52 regular season games and followed that up with a 4-6 performance in the playoffs with a .922 SV%, 2.18 GAA, and 2 shutouts. His playoff save percentage was tops among goalies with 5 or more games played.
Like Knuble, Jiříček is getting another look after playing last night in Hershey. Jiříček is seriously pushing for a roster spot on the blueline, battling with the likes of Bonk, McDonald, and Simon Benoit. His offensive upside with his puck movement and shooting abilities make him someone to watch out for, but he needs to have more consistency in his game.
Cates and Tippett had their seasons prematurely end in the playoffs last year. Cates suffered a lower-body injury that kept him out of Games 3 and 4 of the Second Round against Carolina, while Tippett suffered internal bleeding and a sports hernia injury that required surgery which took him out of commission after the Flyers eliminated the Penguins. Tonight will be an opportunity for two key components of the Flyers’ lineup to just get some work in and shake off the cobwebs if there are any.
Luchanko is trying to make the Flyers out of training camp for the third time in as many tries since being drafted 13th overall in 2024, but hopefully this time he can stay for a full season. He picked up an assist on Studnicka’s power play goal last night, but hopefully we can see him shoot the puck more and really create some offense tonight.
